I am your host, Michael Palmer, and today's show is going to be an inspiring one. Our guest is the owner of Greenleaf Bookkeeping Solutions, and she is a Pure Bookkeeping licensee, Nikki McGraw. Welcome to the podcast. Hi, Michael. Thank you for having me. It's great to have you. It's great to have you. And I'm looking forward to hearing your story and your journey. And, uh, before we get into that, Tell us a little bit about yourself leading up to this point.
Well, I graduated with a degree in elementary education. I homeschooled my daughters. When my nest was empty, I started looking for things to do, and I went back and was a teacher's aide just to see if I wanted to get back into the classroom and decided at the end of that year that it really wasn't for me. It didn't give me the amount of freedom that I wanted initially. My daughter was married and she was going to be expecting her first child. And so I wanted to be able to travel easily, and this just wasn't going to do it for me. So I started investigating other areas, um, things to try, and nothing seemed to really pan out. So I prayed and like, God, I need to know what you want me to do. I'm looking, but I'm not finding it, so could you just drop it in my lap for me? And It wasn't too long, about a week actually, it was pretty short, when the pastor of our church came to me and asked me if I would be interested in keeping their books. And I realized as I was learning QuickBooks and the nonprofit bookkeeping that this could be a business, and it kind of just flourished from there. Wow, that is It is a remarkable story. You were on this one path as a teacher and literally asked for guidance. And in your own church, your pastor asks you to take over the books. And here you are now, you've discovered it.
