Mark Kappelman is the co-founder of RealEstateAccounting.co, who spent 7 years working in public accounting for top firms like PwC and Ernst Young. Mark, welcome to the show. Michael, thanks for having me. It's a pleasure. Hey, it's great to have you. And before we get into everything about your business, tell us a little bit about your career journey leading up until this point.
Yeah, I guess, you know, I'll take it back to college. Went to college, wasn't sure what— I always knew I wanted to get into business. I'm not sure why, just knew I wanted to get into business but wasn't sure what that really meant, quite honestly. And had a couple of uncles that were accountants that said, "Hey, look, if you don't know what you want to do in business, get your accounting degree because it's the language of business. It's the most common P&Ls and balance sheets," which I didn't know what that meant at the time. I think in hindsight, it was great advice from these two gentlemen. And so, and they said, "Look, and you'll come out of school, You'll have a credential, a CPA. It's a way to just, you'll have job security. So I said, okay. And that's how I picked accounting. And then at the school I went to, it was really the Big Four. You said I worked at Ernst Young and PwC, which is true. They had a huge presence there. They started recruiting. You got job offers early and it was either go into audit or tax. Auditor, tax, I was just like, I think that's what 80, 90% of my classmates did. And so I went into audit because I think, you know, most accountants know
