I am your host, Michael Palmer, and today Today's show is going to be a fantastic one. Our guest is the owner of Pathfinder Bookkeeping and Tax. She's also a Pure Bookkeeping licensee, Julie Walters. Welcome to the show. Well, thank you for having me. Glad to be here. It's great to have you, Julie. And for those of our listeners that don't know you yet, they are about to get to know you. Let's start off with a little bit of your career journey leading up to this point. How did you end up doing What you doing now?
Julie Walters with Gusto ad (Jan 23): Well, I probably, like a lot of people, I stumbled into bookkeeping rather accidentally. I worked in tourism for really my entire career. My parents are entrepreneurs. They owned a resort. Um, and I worked there my entire life working in reservations in the back office. And then after university, I kept working in tourism and I ended up working for a cruise line as the director of reservations. And I ended up getting pregnant, like, later in life, about 35. And after I gave birth, my son was about 6 weeks old, the company I went for— worked for went out of business. So I had a brand new baby and a lifetime of experience in tourism and thought, oh my gosh, like, what am I going to do? So I talked to my husband and he was like, you know, you have mat leave, like here in Canada, we have maternity leave. He said, well, stay home, finish it out. Let's see what happens. So at the end of my maternity leave, I went, I went back to work. I found just a temporary job to kind of, kind of see me through to see what I wanted to do. And my dad, who is, who was a CPA, said, well, Julie, why don't you come and work for me and I can teach you
