I'm your host, Michael Palmer, and today's show is going to be a very good one. Our guest is the owner of the virtual bookkeeping firm LegalEase Bookkeeping. Brandy Derrick, welcome to the show. Hi, thanks for having me. I'm excited to be here. Well, it's great to have you, and I really want to get our listener to know who you are. So why don't we start there with a little bit of how did you end up doing what you're doing today?
Well, back when I was in college, my dad needed a bookkeeper and he wanted somebody that he could trust and he thought I would be a good fit. I knew nothing about bookkeeping, but I started doing bookkeeping for his company and he had multiple businesses. So I started doing bookkeeping for all of his companies and I did that for a long time, over 15 years. And then my husband and I decided that we wanted to sail around the world on a sailboat and I wanted to work remotely. So I went to my dad and I said, "Dad, can I do my job remote?" And he was like, "No, no, I need you in the office." And I thought, well, you know, I really think I can do my job remotely. And I just happened upon a blog post that was start a virtual bookkeeping business.
