with Laura Vanderkam
Author Laura Vanderkam returns to explain why time scarcity is mostly a story we tell ourselves, and how bookkeepers can tell a more useful one. She covers zooming out to the week and the year, running your complexity like a ringmaster, protecting your own priorities before client email takes over, making small bets on big goals, and tracking your time like any other resource. You'll leave with practical moves you can try this week, even in the middle of a deadline crunch.

[00:00] Laura Vanderkam: And so when I think about the 3-ring circus, I think about managing the rings of career, relationships, and self. So career, obviously, you, you know, you've got your business, relationships, family and friends, self, things you need to do for your own physical, mental, emotional health. And you kind of have an idea of what's running in all 3 rings. [01:48] Laura Vanderkam: Well, I am fascinated by how people spend their time, because the amazing thing about time is that we all have the same amount of it. And some people may have certain advantages that the rest of us may not have, but we are all working with the same building blocks of time. And so when you find people who are doing amazing things, they're building awesome businesses, taking good care of their clients, and they also have really cool personal lives too. It means that they are using their time in ways that perhaps the rest of us can learn from.
