But not all friction is bad.
In bookkeeping, growth rarely feels smooth.
You take on a new client…and your workflow gets stretched. You upgrade your systems…and everything slows down (at first). You raise your prices…and doubt starts creeping in.
It’s easy to see that friction and think: “Something’s not working.”
But what if it’s actually a sign that something is?
Because there are two kinds of friction:
The kind that drains you:
Disorganized processes Underpaying clients Constant rework
And the kind that develops you:
Learning new tools Setting boundaries Stepping into advisory conversations
- The challenge isn’t to eliminate friction altogether.
- It’s to recognize which friction is worth pushing through.
- One keeps you stuck.
- The other moves you forward.
