Terms and Conditions

Effective July 1, 2026  ·  Last updated October 12, 2026

Sections 7 and 8 apply to subscriptions bought on or after October 2, 2026, the date the current BKOS plans launched. Subscriptions bought earlier stay under the previous versions of Sections 7 and 8, which we will keep available on request.

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the BKOS platform and any related services, content, or community features (collectively, the "Service") operated by The Successful Bookkeeper Global Inc., doing business as BKOS ("BKOS," "we," "our," or "us").

By creating an account, accessing the Service, or clicking "I agree," you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. About BKOS

BKOS is a practice-management operating system for bookkeeping professionals. The Service includes workflow tools, community features, training content, templates, and integrations provided through the BKOS platform at bkos.io and community.thesuccessfulbookkeeper.com. Your use of BKOS is also subject to The Successful Bookkeeper Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and capable of entering into a legally binding contract in your jurisdiction to use the Service. By using BKOS, you represent that you meet these requirements.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information when registering;
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account;
  • Not share your login credentials with any third party.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Permitted Use

You may use the Service solely for your own legitimate business purposes as a bookkeeping professional or as permitted by your organization's subscription. You agree not to:

  • Reproduce, distribute, or resell any BKOS content or materials without our written permission;
  • Use the Service to develop competing products or services;
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the platform;
  • Transmit harmful, unlawful, harassing, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable content;
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its infrastructure;
  • Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access or extract data from the Service.

5. Intellectual Property

All content on the Service — including training materials, templates, workflows, written content, video, audio, graphics, and the BKOS software itself — is owned by or licensed to The Successful Bookkeeper Global Inc. and is protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and intellectual property laws.

Nothing in these Terms grants you ownership of any BKOS content. Your subscription gives you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to access and use the content for your own internal professional purposes.

Content originally created for The Successful Bookkeeper or Pure Bookkeeping programs, where incorporated into BKOS, remains the intellectual property of The Successful Bookkeeper Global Inc.

6. User Content

Where the Service allows you to post, share, or submit content (messages, comments, files, etc.), you retain ownership of that content. By submitting it, you grant The Successful Bookkeeper Global Inc. a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, store, display, and transmit that content as necessary to operate the Service.

You are solely responsible for the accuracy, legality, and appropriateness of any content you submit.

7. Subscriptions, Plans and Payment

7.1 Plans. BKOS is available as a software-only plan or as a bundle that includes a TSB membership. Starter, Practice and Firm are each offered with monthly or annual billing. The plans, prices and what each includes are shown on our pricing page and at checkout, and form part of your subscription.

7.2 Clients included and added clients. Starter includes 3 clients, Practice includes 50 and Firm includes 150. On Starter you may add clients up to 10 in total at $15 per month for each additional client. On Practice you may add clients up to 75 in total at $5 per month for each additional client. Added clients and plan changes are arranged through our team.

7.3 Billing. Subscriptions are billed in advance and recur automatically until cancelled under Section 8. You are charged in the currency shown at checkout (US, Canadian or Australian dollars). Sales tax, GST or HST is added where it applies.

7.4 Price changes. We may change pricing with at least 30 days' written notice. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance.

7.5 Money-back guarantee. Practice and Firm, whether software-only or in a bundle, come with a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you ask within 30 days of your first purchase of the plan, we will refund what you paid for it and your subscription will end. Any bundled membership ends with it.

7.6 No other refunds. Except under Section 7.5 or as required by applicable law, all fees are non-refundable.

8. Term, Cancellation and Termination

8.1 Starter, and memberships bought on their own. There is no contract. You may cancel at any time by asking us under Section 8.5. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and your access continues until then.

8.2 Practice and Firm: 12-month plan. Practice and Firm, whether software-only or in a bundle, have a minimum term of 12 months from the day your subscription starts. Apart from the money-back guarantee in Section 7.5, a request to cancel during the minimum term takes effect at the end of the term, and the fees for the full term remain payable.

8.3 After the first 12 months.

  • Monthly billing: your plan continues month to month at the same price. You can cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you have already paid for, and your next payment is not taken.
  • Annual billing: your plan renews automatically each year. If you ask to cancel before your renewal date, your plan ends on that date and the renewal is not charged. Once a plan has renewed, that year is paid for. It cannot be cancelled early or refunded, and your plan ends at the end of that year.

8.4 Plan changes. Plan changes are made on request. Moving from Starter to Practice starts a new 12-month term from the date of the change, without a new money-back window. Moving from Practice to Firm keeps your current term end date, and we adjust your price from the day you move. Moving to a lower plan is not available during a minimum term and takes effect at renewal.

8.5 How to cancel. To cancel, use our cancellation request form or ask our support team at support@thesuccessfulbookkeeper.com. Our team confirms each request in writing and states the date the cancellation takes effect. For some plans we will invite you to a short call with our team before we confirm. The call never costs you an extra payment: if your next payment falls due first, we confirm your cancellation before it is taken. If a payment is taken before we confirm your cancellation, the period it pays for is yours, and your access continues to its end.

8.6 Bundled membership. In a bundle, your TSB membership is included in the plan price. It ends when the plan ends and cannot be cancelled on its own.

8.7 Suspension or termination by us. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or fail to pay applicable fees.

9. Third-Party Services and Integrations

The Service may integrate with or link to third-party tools and platforms. These integrations are provided as a convenience; we do not control third-party services and are not responsible for their availability, accuracy, or practices. Your use of third-party services is governed by those parties' own terms.

10. Accounting Integrations (QuickBooks Online and Xero)

The Service can connect to QuickBooks Online and Xero using credentials you authorize. You represent that you are entitled to connect each accounting file and to permit the Service to read from and write to it on your behalf. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting as Intuit or Xero, and the Service is not a substitute for QuickBooks Online or Xero.

The Service can modify your live accounting records — including account codes, tax codes, payees, line items, and attachments — when an authorized user takes that action. You are solely responsible for reviewing and approving such changes. The Service is a tool to assist qualified bookkeepers and accountants; it does not provide accounting, tax, or legal advice, and is not a substitute for professional judgement.

Intuit Inc. is not a party to this Agreement and has no responsibility for the Service or any claims relating to it.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not provide legal, accounting, tax, or financial advice; nothing in the Service constitutes professional advice.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE SUCCESSFUL BOOKKEEPER GLOBAL INC. AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. Our total aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Successful Bookkeeper Global Inc. and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third-party rights.

14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any dispute shall first be subject to good-faith negotiation. If unresolved within 30 days, disputes shall be submitted to binding arbitration in Ontario, Canada under the rules of ADR Chambers. If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction that does not permit mandatory arbitration, you may have additional rights under local law.

15. International Use

The Service is operated from Canada. If you access the Service from outside Canada, you do so at your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local laws.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice within the Service at least 14 days before changes take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
