Jomo - the Joy of Missing Out

Written by Ron Bester | Feb 25, 2026 1:20:55 PM

Bookkeepers are used to being everywhere at once.

Answering emails Chasing receipts Reconciling accounts Meeting deadlines Keeping clients calm during stressful times

It’s a profession built on precision, responsibility and constant demand.

But what if 2026 wasn’t about doing more?

What if it was about experiencing JOMO — the Joy of Missing Out?

JOMO is choosing to skip the noise:

Missing the "one more thing to do" after 5pm Missing the guilt of not being “always available” Missing the late-night email that can wait until morning

And instead, gaining something better:

More focus on the clients who value you More energy at the end of the day More time attracting, less time chasing

As bookkeepers, we often measure productivity by how busy we are.

But sustainable success isn’t about doing everything - it’s about doing the

right things well.

This is your reminder that it’s okay to:

Say no to work that isn’t a good fit Set boundaries around your time Unplug at the end of the day

Build a practice that supports your life - not the other way around.

  • Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is
  • miss out on what doesn’t matter.
  • That’s not falling behind.
  • That’s moving forward — intentionally.
